• 2 lbs cooked flank steak.

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • Vegetable or canola oil


Cook the meat in a soup. Wen the meat is cold, shred it with a fork, Heat the oil and add the onions, garlic and peppers until soft. Add the tomato sauce and bay leaf. Cook on low heat for 10 mins. Add the shredded meat and the wine and check the salt. If you like your Ropa Vieja a little more brothy you may add a bit of the broth from the soup.
