• 1 lb thick flank steak
  • Salt
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 lemon OR 1 sour orange
  • Vegetable oil, for frying meat


The preparation of the meat is very similar to the Ropa Vieja. Cook the meat previously, in a soup. When the meat is tender, smash it, all of it, leaving it in one piece. Add the salt, the lemon juice (or sour orange,) the garlic, and the onions. Heat the oil and brown the meat and the onions a few minutes on each side. Do not over burn.
